Hello, My name is JOVANNI MORALES. I'm a continuing student at Southwestern

College, I'm pursuing my education while navigating the challenges of working, family,

and college.

My recent accomplishments and certificates have ignited a powerful ambition: to start a

non-profit organisation and become the first in my family to attend a university. To some,

I'm a role model, and to others a future advocate for the justice-impacted community.

Currently, im studying a curriculum in Horticulture, im pursuing a Certificate of

Achievement in Plant Production, and i have a passion for plants and gardening since a

child.. At Southwestern College, I'm gaining crucial knowledge in sprinkler maintenance

and repair, a stepping stone towards my goal of becoming licensed in Nursery,

Agriculture, and related industries.

My journey through college is about more than personal advancement; it's about forging

a brighter future for my community, child, and my entire family. In 2023 i secured a

contract with the Adopt A Highway program under Caltrans and started the JOVANN

MORALES GROUP.

As a community leader. I lead community cleanup events every month, I ensure the

safety of fellow volunteers working on a local highway on-ramps and off-ramps. These

actions are driven by a desire to inspire my family and friends and to instill a sense of

pride in contributing to our community's well-being. such as the recent effort of February

28th, 2025, in the National City area, we removed 3 bags full of litter from polluting our

environment and reaching our San Diego Bay’s ecosystem. My contract with Caltrans

reflects my deep commitment to my community. As recognition, CALTRANS installed a

sign with JOVANNI MORALES at our adopted site

While I'm gaining crucial knowledge in sprinkler maintenance and repair, a stepping

stone towards my goal of becoming licensed in Nursery, Agriculture, and related

industries. Thanks to Mission Hills Garden Club, this award and scholarship is the key

to securing my nursery license and ultimately a new contract with the state. focused on

planting trees in our local highways, graffiti removal, and essential maintenance and

repair work within the community.

This achievement will enable me to launch a vital program for at-risk teens and adults

on probation, offering them opportunities for community involvement through cleanup

initiatives and exposure to new trades. I firmly believe that education and access to

diverse work experiences can be transformative in the lives of others. I want to make a

difference and wants to help others in my community. Im a role model, and i want to

advocate for the justice-impacted minority.
