First Field trip of our 2025-2026 year

Caterpillar Chow Habitat Farm Field Trip

Location: 11470 Posthill Place, Lakeside 92040                        

Join us for a trip to a very different kind of nursery. This small company in Lakeside is dedicated to growing milkweed from seed and distributing this clean pesticide free food for monarch butterflies locally through sales and public projects.  Their goal is to make sure the decline of the monarch is halted and to put the milkweed habitat back into the wild as well as the urban sprawl.  There are picnic tables so feel free to pack a lunch.  Ken Abernathy, Caterpillar Chow's owner and operator, will lead the tour at 10:15 and be available for questions and answers during lunch.  Wear comfortable shoes and there is a parking lot.  We will meet at 10 at the picnic tables.
