Mission Hills Garden Club Board of Directors Meeting Minutes
Wednesday February, 17th 2010
In attendance: Scott Borden, Meredith French, Carol Moseley, Carla Buff, Katherin Jones, Sabine Starr, Kathleen Stoughton, Barbara Kocmur, Elaine Wilson, Pepper Sutton, Nancy Carol Carter, Joyce Disraeli, Dick Disraeli, Debbie Quillin, Beverly Fritschner, Mary Shelley
Meeting was brought to order by Scott Border at 5:30PM
Minutes were approved with a correction of the minutes are from last month-January 2010
Presidents Report(Scott Borden): nominating committee is formed.
Vice President(Meredith French): Nancy Carol Carter will be speaking on Kate Sessions in April. Tree of Life will present in May.
Vice President Membership(Suzanne Sorger)-January meeting attendance-46 members, 2 guest passes, and 2 paid. Total membership: 225
Treasurers Report(Carol Mosely): no report
Past President Report(Meredith French): no report
Committee Chair Reports
Communications(Kathy Jones): Facebook- those who post onto Facebook share our club with friends.
Postcards/Posters(Sabine Starr)-posters and postcards have been distributed.
Garden Walk(Meredith French and Kathleen Stoughton): This years tentative title: The Legacy of Kate Sessions in Bankers Hill. Need volunteers: pass clipboard at meeting, Elaine Wilson is assisting with docent sign up, contacting Brad Munroe and our scholarship colleges, master gardeners and membership. It is suggested that the volunteers attend a orientation the Saturday prior to the Walk. Carol Moseley has ticket sales volunteers. Barbara Strona will send a separate email to membership. There was discussion on board members commiting to selling 10 tickets and/or docenting the Walk.
Community Projects(Barbara Kocmur): $8,000 was available for scholarships; $2,000 to Crawford High School; $3,000 to Mira Costa College and $3,000 to Cuyamaca College. Pocket Garden at Falcon and W. Lewis-$2,000 has been set aside for enhancement. $150 for San Diego Floral Association Butterfly’s Teeth bookmarks. Grant Elementary School has approached the committee to help with a Gecko Garden mediation initiative project.
Ways and Means(Elaine Wilson): Bags are in and will be distributed. Squares for the Goldfinch/Ft. Stockton pocket garden will be addressed following the Garden Walk.

Hospitality(Pepper Sutton): no report
Children’s Program(Cheryl Gaidmore): no report
Historian(Nancy Carol Carter): need past garden walk books.
Green Thumb(Martha Pehl): gardens being submitted
Weeding(Kissling): send out notice by email
Coffee in the Garden at Scott Borden and Jim Bishop’s home. Discussion-should we have membership applications available there?
Craft Events(Debbie Quillin): craft will be luminaries.
Newsletter(Beverly Fritschner): will send one before Garden Walk. Please send her news and photos.
Old Business:
New directory-looking for committee and people with technical skills to help with the directory.
Mileage reimbursement-there is no reimbursement for mileage in Club activities.
New Business:
Standard Operating Procedures(Carol Moseley): There should be a transition process from the old board to the new board for each position. By-laws and structure of Board and committees to be brought back into allignment.
Budget 2010-2011: starting the process.
Debbie Quillin and Scott Borden volunteered to be the liasons working with San Diego Floral Asso. to form some netword of the local garden clubs that could prove useful in the future(for example, bus trips).
March board meeting at Barbara Strona’s home.
