Community Projects

Our members enjoy donating our profits to benefit and beautify the community. During the Spring MHGC sponsored tree plantings on Alameda and Goldfinch in Mission Hills.

Mission Hills Garden Club sponsors Olivewood Gardens, a community and garden resource facility located in National City.

Olivewood Gardens is a unique 6.85-acre property and is a destination primarily for students and families from underserved communities.  Volunteers chefs donate their time to teach hands-on cooking classes and master gardeners, scientists, and educators volunteer as field instructors to teach gardening classes.

Last April, Mission Hills Garden Club sponsored teenage volunteers to clean-up Cottonwood Gardens in association with the San Diego River Foundation.  San Diego River Foundation Board members accept a check from MHGC member Mary Shelley.  In addition the check MHGC donated a picnic table to the San Diego River Foundation.
